#MIL4Democracy Handbook

The #MIL4Democracy Handbook is co-written by Out of The Box with the alumni of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) 2019 on “Promoting Media Literacy through Education.” It contains 18 lesson plans that tackle key issues on democracy, anchored on local case studies — events, texts, and social issues that reflect contemporary realities of the Philippines. E-mail us at [email protected] to request for printed copies of the #MIL4Democracy Handbook or download it for FREE here.

Media X Women

In this video explainer, we evaluated and analyzed how media represent women and the reasons behind it. We laid down various representations or images as seen primarily on television shows and films, and asked feminist advocates to deconstruct such images. By the end of the resource, we want the audience—especially young women—to ask: “What then should we do about media’s portrayal of us, of our bodies, of our attitude?” Students and teachers can use these videos as classroom materials or as prompts for lessons about media and its relevance in society, culture, and politics.

#IWASFAKE

#IWASFAKE Remote Learning Resources is a landmark project of Out of The Box Media Literacy Initiative (OOTB) launched in 2020 at the height of COVID-19 pandemic. ‘Iwas’ [read as “ee-was”] in #IWASFAKE is Filipino for ‘avoid’ or ‘prevent.’ It also stands for the four habits and skills that a person must develop against mis- and disinformation, especially amid the pandemic. #IWASFAKE features learning courses with free modules, worksheets, interactive materials; free webinars; contest and campaigns.
